…The surprise in the region is the establishment of a US company, TechnoCom that recently sold its VeoLocation fleet management platform to Telcel Venezuela. VeoLocation allows fleet monitoring and stolen vehicle recovery via the Internet using GPS (Global Positioning System) technology, and enables efficient management of service orders and distribution. Telcel brands and markets this application as its own, thus offering additional services to its corporate clients and generating more revenue.

At the event, TechnoCom also announced the forming of an alliance with Grupo Secusat of Venezuela. This alliance, Secusat International, will provide local support to Telcel's customers.

Brian McNiff, Vice President of Marketing for TechnoCom, stated that the company plans to offer its solutions in the immediate future to other Latin American countries such as Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. "We are interested in establishing alliances with local companies like Secusat in each country, to provide support to our clients, as this is the best way to do business in the region".

CDMA 450MHz and VeoLocation are solutions that are just beginning in the region, with distinct roadmaps and potential. It will be interesting to see what they will do. Our recommendation: follow their progress.
